Dosage – Flucloxacillin
Length of course depends on the infection and its response to treatment.
Staphylococcal infections (not MRSA)
Birth (at term) – 1 week, IV/oral 25–50 mg/kg every 12 hours. Up to 100 mg/kg IV every 12 hours has been recommended for serious infections such as osteomyelitis.
1 week – 1 month, IV/oral 25–50 mg/kg every 8 hours. Up to 100 mg/kg IV every 8 hours has been recommended for serious infections such as osteomyelitis.
1 month – 18 years, oral 12.5–25 mg/kg (usual adult dose 250–500 mg) every 6 hours. For severe infections (eg osteomyelitis), use up to 1 g every 6 hours.
1 month – 18 years, IV/IM, usually 25 mg/kg (maximum 1 g) every 6 hours. For severe infections (eg endocarditis), use up to 50 mg/kg (maximum 2 g) every 4–6 hours.
Administration advice
Best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach.

flucloxacillin has a bitter taste (not disguised by the oral liquid formulation)
